New event dates 2021

In light of the Coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic, many events can obviously no longer take place as planned in 2020. The Dutch government has banned all organized events until September 1st in order to reduce pressure on the public services. Most organizations are investigating all options to reschedule their events to 2021. We have listed a few events that will take place next year. If you were planning to attend one of these events, we hope you can virtually of in 2021!

Invictus Games

The Invictus Games will probably be moved to May or June 2021, subject to the availability of key facilities and resources. For more information about the Invictus Games, please visit our other blog post: Invictus Games The Hague 2020.

Eurovision Song Contest 2020: tv special

Initially, the Eurovision Song Contest was planned to be held in Rotterdam. Because of the coronavirus outbreak, the contest’s 65th anniversary was cancelled. The organisators are working on a Europe-wide replacement show called ‘Eurovision: Europe Shine a Light’. The show will be broadcasted live on May 16th, 2020 with the Dutch hosts. All countries that would have participated, will broadcast the show.

Sail

Sail was supposed to take place in August, 2020. Unfortunately, the event had to be cancelled because of the pandemic. A postponement to 2021 was not possible for this mass event. Therefore, Sail will come back with a jubilee edition in 2025.

European Football Championship (UEFA EURO) 2020

The international men’s football championship of Europe was originally scheduled to take place in June and July, 2020. On March 17th, the UEFA announced that the tournament will be moved to 2021 due to COVID-19. The championship will probably take place from June 11 to July 2021. Although the tournament will not take place in 2020 anymore, the tournament will still retain the name ‘UEFA EURO 2020’.
