A'DAM Tower Lookout Amsterdam

Blog

The A’DAM Toren is the result of the renovation project of the old “Toren Overhoeks”, the former headquarter of the multinational oil company “Shell”. It’s been transformed into the A’DAM Tower and now offers a wide range of services such as restaurants (like “The Butcher Social Club), a hotel and offices spaces. The building is easy to reach from the Central Station, as it’s located on the other side of the river (Amsterdam Noord).

The ADAM Lookout on the roof top

The A’DAM Tower offers a range of exciting activities, which are true experiences! The A’DAM Lookout, for example, allows you to reach the highest floors and the panoramic terrace of the tower. From the first floor, let yourself be transported by a very entertaining and spacious elevator, unique for its’ lights patterns and shows. People with mobility problems can count on the help of personnel during the climb. Once arrived on the top, you can enjoy the view of the city while drinking a cup of hot coffee at Madam Skybar and Restaurant. Whenever you want, you can either remain on this top floor or come out on the rooftop.

Out on the roof top, you have the possibility to have a chilled drink at the Bar or just sit on big poufs and relax for a while. All around the railing it’s possible to read fun facts about Amsterdam and neighbouring cities on panels and interactive screens. The atmosphere is easy and energetic, matched with the music being played. Out on this roof top, you will also see the Highest Swing in Europe! You can enjoy the swing by buying an extra ticket (cost of € 5), that would allow you to swing back and forth over the edge of the tower with Amsterdam below your feet.

Accessibility ADAM Tower

The A’DAM Lookout has been designed as such to offer as many people possible a pleasurable experience. The entrance, the one at the IJ-side (in front of the EYE Film Museum), is equipped with a ramp, while, from the parking lot, there’s an elevator to the ground floor. Assistance dogs are allowed to come in the building and toilet facilities for people with limited mobility are located both at the ground floor and the 20th floor.

Unfortunately, the swing is not accessible for visitors who are wheelchair bound. It is possible to go on the swing, if a visitor is able to walk a couple of steps independently or when an assisting companion is able to assist the visitor to the swing.

Even though the swing is not accessible for all, we do recommend to visit the A’DAM Tower for the exciting elevator experience and the spectacular views!
