Avifauna in Alphen aan den Rijn: A Guide to Its Accessibility

About Avifauna: A Bird Lover’s Paradise

 

Founded in 1950, Avifauna was one of the first bird parks in the world. Today, it is home to a wide range of exotic and native bird species from around the globe. Vogelpark Avifauna Accessibility:

 

  • Address: Hoorn 59, 2404 HG Alphen aan den Rijn
 
  • Opening hours: Vogelpark Avifauna is open daily from 10 AM to 6 PM.
 
  • Entrance: Very wide park entrance. 
 
  • Toilets: accessible toilets are located on the restaurant buildings. Please note that the one at the restaurant at the centre of the park has a very sloping access ramp, which may require access only by help. In contrast, the bathroom in the other restaurant (near the playground) can be reached from the ground floor.

 

  • Accessibility: The entire park is accessible for wheelchair users, but there are some part of the park with a slope and uneven ground.
 
  • Rental: a few wheelchairs are availabble for rental at the park (they are metals one, not really comfortable). To rent on you need a deposit of Euro 1. It is not possible to reserve it.
 
  • Guide dogs: Guide and assistance dogs are welcomed at Avifauna. They should wear a visible jacket or harness and have proper identification.

 

  • Mobility scooters: allowed.
