Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam

This hotel resides in one of the most beautiful buildings in the capital, a true enchantment. Its history goes back a good 6 centuries, when two monasteries, St. Catherine’s and St. Cecilia’s, stood on the site. The layout of the monasteries with their monastic courtyards and gardens can still be seen today. The buildings in the second half of the 16th century were then used as hotels for high-ranking guests until, in the next century, they became municipal headquarters. Different roles followed over the centuries until 1992 when it was transformed into the present hotel, completing major restoration work that spared no expense. Even today there is still a unique, old-world atmosphere inside.
