If you are looking for a nice holiday accommodation in Belgium, we recommend to stay at the beautiful holiday houses called Casa Ametza. The holiday houses are located in one of the green municipality parks of Brasschaat. This city is located only 15 minutes from Antwerp, which is a larger well known city in Belgium. In November 2006 Brasschaat won the award for most livable city of the world. Our visit to Brasschaat showed us why, Brasschaat has several spacious green parks, cultural- and military heritage and plenty of choice in good restaurants.

The holiday houses are situated in one of the green parks, next to a sports facility with beautiful swimming pool. Many restaurants can be found on walking distance, just a short stroll (10 – 20 minutes) through the green park. Casa Ametza consists of 6 holiday houses and one group accommodation and opened it’s doors in January 2016, so everything is very new! The houses are designed for all, which means that all cottages are accessible for people with accessibility needs.

The 6 holiday holiday houses are each developed for people with specific accessibility needs. All holiday houses are wheelchair accessible, the interior is very spacious and the openings with sliding doors are wide ( over 100 cm / over 39 inches). The bathrooms have a wheel-in shower, shower chair, a toilet with grab rails on both sides and a lowered wash basin with two sinks. The kitchen has also been made accessible with space underneath the counter. Each holiday house has a terrace with furniture and a garden.

Four holiday houses have beds for 4 persons and 2 houses have beds for 6 persons, so the holiday houses are very suitable to families. Apart for the wheelchair accessibility (also for users with electric wheelchairs), 4 of the houses have been designed for people with visual impairments, people with hearing impairments and people with high sensitivity. At last, one of the houses has a bath and ceiling hoist.

We recommend the holiday houses for people who are looking for accessible accommodation in Flanders or in Antwerp. The surroundings of the holiday houses offer plenty of recreational activities, such as walking, biking and swimming. The swimming pool next to the holiday park has a hoist that can help people with limited mobility into the water. Special needs bikes can be rented when requested in advance. The holiday houses each have a Blue Badge / disabled parking spot in front of the house. Antwerp can be reached by car or by bus. The bus departs in the center of town opposite to the church and provides wheelchair access. It takes approximately 30 minutes by bus to reach the centre of Antwerp.
