From the 6th of December 2013 to the 16th of January, 2014 Amsterdam will be the stage for the Amsterdam Light Festival.

Amsterdam Light Festival is a winter light festival for all ages. For 50 days, the historical center of Amsterdam will present a unique décor for this international light and water festival. Corresponding to the theme, ‘Building with Light’, 30 light sculptures and projections by international artists have been selected for this second edition. The boat tour, Water Colors, will exhibit artworks along, the Amsterdam canals and the Amstel River, while the walking route, Illuminade, will take place in the center of the city.

The Illuminade walking route takes you along several inspiring light artworks of the Amsterdam Light Festival. During this unique international exhibition, young and established (international) artists will present their creations in the public space. Works include aprojections on historical buildings, installations on the street or in public parks, or works that require visitor participation. A unique experience in the darkest months of the year. This walking route is open from December 12, 2013 to January 5, 2014.

The Water Colors Boat route is a special boat route takes you through the canals of Amsterdam which allows you to enjoy light art, projections, and installations by (international) artists.

The Christmas Canal Parade will take place on the 21st of December from 18:30 pm and takes approximately 45 minutes.
